This explains what Dalton K9 Academy collects through this website and the Dalton K9 Academy app, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Dalton K9 Academy is run by Brogan Price-Dalton, a dog trainer and home boarder in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. We are responsible for your information. For anything about it, email brogan@daltonk9academy.co.uk.
What we collect
Your app account. Your name, email address and password. The password is stored scrambled, so nobody can read it, including us.
Your dogs. Name, breed, date of birth and photo, and the training reports we write for you, with their notes, photos and videos.
Forms (boarding check-in, training consent, walking terms). Your address and phone numbers; an emergency contact; your vet and insurer; your dog’s microchip number, vaccinations (including a photo of the card if you add one), health conditions, medication, feeding, exercise and behaviour; and, when you sign, your name, the date and the internet address you signed from. If you give us someone else’s details as an emergency contact, please let them know.
Bookings and care. Booking dates, notes, prices and deposits, and the feeding, walk and medication record we keep while your dog stays with us.
Shop orders. Your name, email, phone, delivery postcode and address, and what you bought. Card payments are taken by Stripe; your card details go straight to them and we never see them.
Enquiries. Your name, email, phone, your dog’s name and your message.
Keeping accounts safe. When someone signs in, a record of failed attempts against the account and the internet address they came from, so repeated guessing can be stopped.
This website. Visit statistics from Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies (see our Cookie Policy). The shop checkout uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you are not a bot.
Our team’s phones. If you work with us, the app keeps a code for your phone so it can send you care reminders.
Why, and on what basis
To look after and train your dog, take bookings, run your account and fulfil your orders, because you have asked us to (a contract with you). To keep sales records, because tax law requires it. To keep accounts and the shop safe from misuse, because we have a legitimate interest in doing so. For analytics, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
Only these, and only to do the job described:
- Dalton Digital, who build and run our website and app. The app’s records are stored on their server in the UK. Copies of forms sent from this website pass through their system to reach us.
- Stripe, for card payments.
- Cloudflare, which stores the photos and videos in the app and runs the bot check.
- Vercel, which hosts this website.
- Google, for website analytics if you accept them.
- Expo, Google and Apple, which deliver app notifications to our team’s phones.
In an emergency involving your dog we may share what is needed with your vet or your emergency contact. Some of these companies are based in, or use servers in, the United States; they protect your information under the safeguards UK law requires for that.
How long we keep it
- Your account, dogs, forms, bookings, care records and training reports: until you delete your account or ask us to.
- Shop orders: six years, because tax law requires sales records. If you delete your account, we remove your email and phone number from them.
- Records of failed sign-ins: about a day.
- Forms and enquiries sent from this website rather than the app: for as long as we need them to look after your dog and answer you, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Our systems are backed up every night, to a drive kept with the server and to encrypted storage off site, so deleted information can remain in a backup for up to 12 months before it is gone everywhere.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings, then Delete account. Or email us from the address on your account. Our delete your account page explains exactly what is removed and what is kept.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to limit or object to how we use it, or to give it to you in a format you can take elsewhere. Email us and we will answer within a month.
If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Keeping it safe
Connections are encrypted, passwords are stored scrambled, our team signs in with a second step (a code from their phone), and the disk the app’s records are kept on is encrypted. Only the people who need your information to look after your dog can see it.
Children
Our services are for dog owners aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
